Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays a reports that claims the club wanted to insert a buyback clause in the Tosin Adarabioyo to Fulham deal but the City Academy product refused.
Adarabioyo was previously a poster boy for the academy and made his debut under Manuel Pellegrini in a 5-1 defeat to Chelsea in the FA Cup in February 2016. Pep Guardiola was instantly impressed on arriving at the Etihad, declaring in his first pre-season that the youngster had what was required to immediately challenge for a first-team place.
Adarabioyo, who has spoke of his dream of captaining the club where he grew up has demonstrated his potential out on loan, having spent time with West Bromwich Albion and Blackburn Rovers.
Several Premier League teams had shown an interest in the summer but it was not until the end of what has been an exceptional transfer window on the back of the pandemic that Fulham – following a poor start to life back in the top division – took the plunge
Tosin left City after 18 years at the club to sign for Fulham on transfer deadline day. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the club announced the Anglo-Nigerian was handed a three-year contract with the Cottagers holding the option to extend by an additional 12 months.
Its was reported that City will receive up to £2million for the transfer and have inserted a 20 per cent sell on fee in the deal.
According to a reporter for The Athletic UK Peter Rutzler, City wanted a buyback clause in the deal but Tosin said no as he didn’t want an Angeliño situation – if he goes back it’ll be because both parties want it.
The club’s decision not to recall him last season during their defensive difficulties hardly encouraged him to renew a deal that expires in 2021 and his lack of involvement with the first team since returning made a departure inevitable.

💯% agree. They should have tried to seduce you, who wants to stay and not Garcia, who wants out.

He was right.
If City board feel he’s good, then they should buy him back with fair price nt because of contract clause.— Akun Pemerintah (@lordsalty57_) October 28, 2020
Some people can’t handle the fact he wasn’t good enough like plenty of other academy lads he’s had chances else where . Just because he’s a city fan & Manchester lad it doesn’t guarantee you play . I’d be surprised if most who replied on here had ever seen him play
