Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays a report that claims the club has decided not to search for another striker this summer despite Sergio Aguero‘s injury crisis.
Aguero could miss the first two months of the Premier League season as he has yet to train with the club since suffering a knee injury in June.
There had initially been hope the 32-year-old would be fit for the latter stages of the Champions League in August but that date passed and the target became the start of the new Premier League season.
Guardiola at the weekly Premier League press conference ahead of Wolves match fears he could be without the 32-year-old for much longer.
“We knew the injury was difficult,” Guardiola was quoted as saying by the BBC.
“He still hasn’t had one training session with us and Sergio is not a guy who regains his physical condition quickly. He has been out for a long time, so maybe in one or two months he will be ready.”
This leaves City with just Gabriel Jesus as the fit striker at the Club and makes the decision to not add further depth to the squad this Summer, appear all the more short sighted.
According to MEN, the Blues have decided not to search for another striker this summer. They are likely to seek a replacement next year, after prioritising two new centre backs and a winger to replace Leroy Sane in the current transfer window.
In reaction to the report shared on Twitter by Man City Xtra, City fans have expressed their thoughts and opinions.

Yes a stop gap Cavanni or Jovic then go all out next summer Haaland or Mbappe type of player— Cityzennn (@thecityzensfc) September 18, 2020
What an absolute joke our recruitment has been this season AND last season. Torres for Sane? Okay. We can’t buy a striker, we can’t get Koulibaly. They put all the eggs in the Messi basket and don’t know what to do now. We rely on Kevin to fix everything and we can’t defend.— Liz Tray (@LizTray) September 18, 2020
Then you have the fans who think Jesus is enough to cover. I feel a forward is easily an obvious need if not the most obvious need for the squad arguably. Should’ve brought in a forward this year imo, defo need one next season— Omar (@mcfcomarr) September 19, 2020
Ludicrous transfer policy. We knew Kompany was going and failed to replace him. We knew Fern and Aguero were at the end of their careers and we’ve failed to replace them properly as well. After Lyon the club needed a lift and it’s been nothing but bad news since then!— City ’til I Cry! (@tomritchiemcfc) September 18, 2020
Explain to me how it makes sense to sign an Aguero replacement next summer when he might be gone/out of contract. We’ll have zero bargaining power. The time to do this was 2 months ago even without the knowledge he’d maybe still be injured 1-2 months into the season. Bottled it.— Jon Peck (@abellwillring) September 18, 2020
