Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is looking to sign two top midfielders from the Premier League during the upcoming summer transfer window. The Etihad Stadium recruitment bosses are expected to be busy both in terms of bringing in new players and selling off some individuals ahead of Guardiola’s final season at the club in 2024/25. There has been a lot of speculation surrounding Manchester City’s midfield, with several top performers from around Europe being linked with the club.
Despite interest in players like Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala, Manchester City are focusing on two Premier League stars as potential recruits. Guardiola has reportedly instructed the recruitment team to target Newcastle’s Bruno Guimaraes and West Ham’s Lucas Paqueta for their midfield needs. Both players are experienced in the Premier League and are said to be eager to join City. Paqueta, however, has expressed his commitment to West Ham and staying focused on his duties there.
It is understood that both Guimaraes and Paqueta have release clauses in their contracts, with Guimaraes set to have a £100 million clause activated in the summer, while Paqueta’s clause stands at £85 million. Guardiola sees their age profiles and Premier League experience as crucial additions to his squad for the upcoming season. The City boss is keen on making these signings to bolster his midfield options before the start of the new campaign.
