Manchester City and Chelsea in the race for Sporting winger Joelson Fernandes, according to claims from Portugal today.
The 17-year-old has attracted interest from Arsenal with a €32m bid rejected last week from the gunners.
According to A Bola (via SportWitness), City and Chelsea have made enquiries over the availability of talented teenage winger.
The report claimed City were not put off by the price they were quoted for Fernandes, but that it’s unlikely they would get him for under his €45m release clause.
Fernandes scored five times in 28 appearances for Sporting’s youth side, and was rewarded with four first team appearances this season.
In reaction to the report shared on Twitter by Man City xtra, City fans have expressed their thoughts and opinions.
Yeah that’s not happening.
As if we’re going to pay €45m for a 17 year old. This isn’t Real Madrid..— J C (@fapplesauwz) August 12, 2020
Hopefully the good relationship between us and Sporting will help if we do go for him— MikeCityFc (@MikeCityFc2) August 12, 2020
