Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva has a reportedly ‘excessive’ release clause that has made potential suitors hesitant to make a move. The Portugal international, who has been linked with a move away from England, has been successful at City, winning Premier League titles and a Champions League trophy since joining in 2017.

FC Barcelona has been consistently rumored as a potential destination for Silva, but they do not consider him a top priority this summer. There are concerns about his age and similar players already at the club. Barcelona believes that Silva’s £50 million release clause is too high and would need a lower price to consider making a deal.

Manchester City is preparing for Silva’s potential departure by looking at possible replacements in the upcoming transfer window. Options include Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United and Lucas Paqueta from West Ham United. City had previously shown interest in Paqueta, but a deal fell through last summer due to a Football Association investigation. Interest in him has been retained for the new transfer market.
