Manchester City and Spanish side Valencia have reached an official agreement for Spanish winger Ferran Torres with the deal expected to be finalised soon.
Pep guardiola had identified Torres, 20, as a replacement for Leroy Sane and have been tracking the Spain Under-20 international for some time and have taken advantage of his situation at Valencia to strike an agreement for the youngster.
According to sources such as Sky Sports and The Telegraph, the Citizens are on the verge of agreeing a deal for Torres. Both sources say the initial fee will be in the region of £20.9m.
The Athletic’s Sam Lee claims initial fee is worth €25 million with somewhere between €10-€15 million in performance-based add-ons. Torres is expected to sign a contract through June 2025 as Manchester City’s newest Spanish international.
It would be an incredibly great deal for City and Txiki as they look to re-tool the team and contend for the Premier League crown next season.
Another Spanish reporter says City will officially announce the transfer of Ferran Torres in the next few hours.
The chance to work under Pep Guardiola was a major factor in convincing The 20-year-old who could therefore be used in a number of positions by the City coach, including on the left where he would be able to provide back-up for Raheem Sterling and allow the England winger to rest more often.
In reaction to the report shared on Twitter by City Chief and Man City Xtra, City fans have expressed their thoughts and opinions with many excited and can’t wait for an official announcement for Etihad bound winger.
