Manchester City has agreed a deal with fellow City Football Group side ESTAC Troyes for the transfer of Brazil international winger Savio, who has had an outstanding season with sister club Girona. Savio’s performances in La Liga earned him his first senior Brazil cap. There is uncertainty whether Savio will debut in Sky Blue next season, but he is expected to join Manchester City’s pre-season tour in July for the coaching staff to assess his capabilities before making a decision for the upcoming season.
Sporting director Txiki Begiristain will offer coaching staff an ‘additional insight’ on Savio before his arrival, as Manchester City also assess the progress of right-back Yan Couto, who has been on loan with Girona. Given Girona’s success in La Liga this season, Manchester City may consider sending both Savio and Couto back to Catalonia for another campaign to further develop under the coaching abilities of Míchel Sanchez. City Group officials are impressed with the progress of both players and may entrust them to Girona for continued growth in their careers.
