Manchester City are reportedly interested in signing Lucas Paqueta in the upcoming summer transfer window. The Brazilian midfielder, currently playing for West Ham United, is being heavily linked with a move to City. Reports suggest that City may have agreed on personal terms with Paqueta’s agents, and West Ham are aware of the possibility of their player leaving due to a potential release clause in his contract.
City had previously shown interest in Paqueta but pulled out of a deal last summer amid betting allegations. However, they have now revived their interest in the midfielder and are looking to seal the deal once the season ends. With Pep Guardiola keen on adding quality to his midfield, Paqueta could be a significant addition to City’s squad, providing competition alongside the likes of Matheus Nunes and Mateo Kovacic.
The release clause in Paqueta’s contract is rumored to be around £86 million, which would become active at the end of the season. City, along with other potential suitors, will need to negotiate the price with West Ham if they decide to trigger the clause. Paqueta has been in impressive form this season, contributing 15 goals in all competitions, making him a sought-after prospect for top clubs like Manchester City.
