Manchester City are facing the possibility of Kevin De Bruyne leaving the club this summer as he approaches the final year of his contract. Despite rejecting offers from the Saudi Pro League last summer, a new report suggests that there may be a ‘change of mind’ from De Bruyne this summer. The Pro League’s sporting director, Michael Emenalo, is said to have a good relationship with De Bruyne and is pushing for the move.

If De Bruyne were to consider a move to Saudi Arabia, top clubs like Al Hilal, Al Ahli, Al Ittihad, and Al Nassr, owned by the Public Investment Fund, are seen as more suitable destinations. Manchester City have already successfully seen Riyad Mahrez and Aymeric Laporte join clubs in the Saudi Pro League, with both transfers generating a combined transfer fee of around £54 million. These moves indicate a growing interest from Saudi Arabian football bosses in acquiring top talent.

As De Bruyne’s future at Manchester City remains uncertain, the growing interest from Saudi Arabia presents a possible new challenge for the Premier League champions. De Bruyne’s potential move to the Middle-East could not only benefit him financially but also further solidify the links between top European talents and the developing football scene in Saudi Arabia.
