Manchester City are interested in potentially signing four midfielders in the upcoming transfer window. These players are Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala, West Ham’s Lucas Paqueta, Newcastle’s Bruno Guimaraes, and Benfica’s Joao Neves. Three of these players have release clauses in their contracts, with Musiala being the only exception, requiring City to negotiate with Bayern.
The potential cost for these midfielders varies, with Paqueta having an £85m release clause, Guimaraes at £100m, and Neves at €120m (£103.5m). City may consider bidding as high as £120m for Musiala. The club is facing uncertainty in their midfield, with Kalvin Phillips set to leave after his loan deal expires and questions surrounding the futures of Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva, who have their own release clauses.
Rival Premier League clubs are also interested in City’s targets, with Chelsea and Liverpool eyeing Musiala and Arsenal expected to challenge for Guimaraes. Manchester United could also be competition if City decides to pursue Neves. The combined worth of these midfielders is estimated to be over £400m, and City is likely to make a move for at least one of these players to strengthen their midfield options.
