Manchester City has a rich history dating back to the 19th century when they were founded by members of St Mark’s Church of England in West Gorton, Manchester. Originally known as St Mark’s (West Gorton), the club went through a series of name changes before settling on Manchester City Football Club in 1894. Despite early struggles, the club managed to win their first title in 1899 and their first FA Cup in 1904.

The club experienced a period of success in the late 60s and early 70s, winning the first division title, FA Cup, and the League Cup. However, they went through a decline before being revived by the appointment of Joe Mercer and Malcolm Allison as managers. The club saw further success under owners Sheikh Mansour and Pep Guardiola, winning multiple league titles, FA Cups, League Cups, and their first Champions League trophy in 2023.

Manchester City has played at different grounds over the years, including Hyde Road and Maine Road before moving to the Etihad Stadium, which they now call home. The club has won a total of 34 major trophies, including nine league titles, seven FA Cups, and eight League Cups. Their success in recent years has been driven by star players like Sergio Aguero, Vincent Kompany, David Silva, Kevin De Bruyne, and Phil Foden, as well as legendary managers Joe Mercer and Pep Guardiola.
