Joleon Lescott, a former player of Manchester City, has revealed that two of his teammates, Yaya Toure and Sergio Aguero, were very different in training compared to how they performed in games. Lescott noted that players like himself, James Milner, Edin Dzeko, and Aleksandar Kolarov, trained with the same intensity as they played, setting a standard for the team. However, Toure and Aguero were able to perform exceptionally well in matches despite not training at the same level.
Toure and Aguero, despite their different approach to training, were crucial players for Manchester City during their time at the club. They made a combined total of 706 appearances, with Aguero scoring 260 goals and Toure scoring 79 goals, along with providing assists. Their impact on the team and their ability to deliver when it mattered most showed that exceptional players like them do not always need to excel in training as long as they set an example on the pitch.
Lescott highlighted the importance of different players within the team and how they all contributed towards the team’s success. He emphasized that even those not in the starting lineup were valued and had a voice within the team, stressing the importance of unity and teamwork. Despite their differing training styles, Toure and Aguero’s contributions helped Manchester City achieve success and win numerous trophies during their time at the club.
