Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has requested a change of hotel for the team’s visit to Manchester City for the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals. The Spanish team is aiming for their first victory at the Etihad Stadium after three previous defeats in Manchester. Manchester City, who previously beat Real Madrid in the semi-finals last year, is looking to knock out Real Madrid for the second consecutive season.
Manchester City goes into the return fixture with a 3-3 draw after an emphatic first-leg at Santiago Bernabéu. Both teams have key players missing due to injuries. Real Madrid is without Kevin De Bruyne and Kyle Walker. Real Madrid is taking the unusual step of changing hotels in the hopes of changing their luck in Manchester and breaking what Ancelotti sees as a curse from previous visits.
Real Madrid announced that the squad will be staying at The Lowry hotel in Manchester. Ancelotti’s decision to change hotels is attributed to his superstition and desire to break the curse that has seen Real Madrid lose twice during previous visits when staying at different hotels in the city. The team is hoping that the change in accommodations will bring them better luck in their upcoming match against Manchester City.
