Manchester City’s on-loan defender Yan Couto has indicated that discussions about his future beyond this season are on the horizon.
The Brazilian youngster has had a remarkable season with Girona, impressing both individually and as part of the City Football Group team.
Couto’s performances have not only caught the attention of Manchester City fans wondering if he will join Pep Guardiola’s squad next season, but have also earned him his first senior cap for Brazil.
As the season nears its end, a decision on integrating Couto into Manchester City’s first-team next season is looming, and the player himself has addressed the topic.
In an exclusive interview with TNT Sports Brasil, as reported by Sport Witness, Couto mentioned that while his future remains uncertain, discussions will be held with all relevant parties in the coming weeks and months.
“So I don’t know yet. I’m talking a lot with my agents, we have to start planning our objectives, we also have to see, I’m part of (Manchester) City, I have a contract until 2026,” explained the Brazil international.
“It’s a conversation we have a lot with them, about what they expect for the future. We’ll talk and decide, nothing has been decided yet, we’ll have to see if I go to pre-season or not. If they want to be with me.”
Couto added, “But I don’t think I can say about the future yet, it’s still early, it’s towards the end of the season, towards the European summer. And well, as I said, I’m focused on football, I leave it to my agents, I’m trying to do my bit, and I think it’s been a very good season for me and Girona.”
Manchester City has announced that the club and its players will be traveling to the United States this summer for a four-game tour of the eastern coast as part of their preparations for the upcoming season.
City will face Celtic, FC Barcelona, AC Milan, and Chelsea in preparation for the new English domestic season.
There is a strong possibility that Yan Couto could be included in Manchester City’s pre-season group as Guardiola and his staff assess his suitability for their style of play.
