Manchester City intends to leverage their City Football Group network to enhance the development of Luciano Rodriguez of Liverpool Montevideo, should a deal for the young forward be finalized.

The 20-year-old might be the next talented South American player to join the City Football Group, which currently consists of 13 clubs worldwide, including Manchester City in the Premier League and Girona in La Liga.

Pep Guardiola is poised to make an internal addition from the City Football Group this summer, with Girona loanee Savio anticipated to transfer to the Etihad Stadium after an impressive season in Spain.

Argentinian Under-20 and River Plate standout Claudio Echeverri will also be part of the Manchester City first-team squad in the upcoming season, as the attacking midfielder is set to move to England in January 2025 for an initial fee of £12.5 million.

Liverpool Montevideo’s Luciano Rodriguez could potentially follow the path of Savio or Echeverri, with reports suggesting a rumored €15 million move by Manchester City for the Uruguayan international.

Rodriguez, who recently featured for Marcelo Bielsa’s Uruguayan national team, has showcased his talent with two goals in five Primera Division appearances this season and a total of 18 goal involvements in 41 matches for Liverpool.

Manchester City has expressed substantial interest in signing Rodriguez, aiming to outdo Eredivisie powerhouse Feyenoord in acquiring the talented young forward, according to reputable transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano.

ESPN’s report indicates that the City Football Group is willing to pay an additional €3 million to secure the deal, with plans to loan the player within the multi-club network before integrating him into the Etihad Stadium setup.

The transfer process is complicated by the player’s ownership structure, with ESPN revealing that Liverpool Montevideo only holds 80% ownership of Rodriguez, while the player retains the remaining 20%.

Rodriguez could be the fourth recent addition from the region for the Blues, joining the likes of Julian Alvarez, Maximo Perrone, and Echeverri in Manchester City’s talent pool.
