Manchester City and Belgium will be facing a setback as Kevin De Bruyne is set to miss three matches due to a recent injury. The 32-year-old midfielder was not included in Belgium’s squad for the final international break before the European Championships, with his absence attributed to an injury.

Belgium manager Domenico Tedesco revealed that De Bruyne had been playing with a minor groin issue in recent games and after consulting with the player and doctor, it was decided that it was best for him to focus on recovering at Manchester City and be ready for the Euros.

Reports suggest that De Bruyne will sit out Manchester City’s FA Cup quarter-final against Newcastle United due to the groin problem. However, there is optimism that he may be available for the club’s Premier League match against Arsenal at the end of March.

In addition to missing out on international duty with Belgium for matches against the Republic of Ireland and England, De Bruyne will also be absent for Manchester City’s upcoming games against Aston Villa and Crystal Palace in April. These fixtures come after a disappointing defeat to Villa earlier in the season.

Furthermore, Manchester City will also have to navigate through the UEFA Champions League quarter-final double-header without De Bruyne. The draw for this stage of the competition will be finalized by UEFA on Friday.

Overall, De Bruyne’s absence will be felt by both Manchester City and Belgium in crucial matches, but there is hope that he will recover in time to make an impact in the later stages of the season and the upcoming European Championships.
