Anton Ferdinand has shared his opinion on whether Manchester City or Arsenal have the better players in key positions on the pitch this season. He believes that Kyle Walker is a superior right-back to Ben White, and Phil Foden is a better number 10 than Martin Odegaard based on their performances this campaign. When comparing goalkeepers Ederson and David Raya, Ferdinand instantly chose Ederson as the better player.
Ferdinand acknowledges that the majority of Manchester City players outshine those of Arsenal, as City has been a dominant side in England while Arsenal has regressed. He believes that Ederson is clearly a better goalkeeper than David Raya, citing Ederson’s elite performances and superior distribution skills. While Raya has shown promise for Arsenal, Ferdinand notes that Ederson has been consistent and world-class since joining Manchester City in 2017.
In terms of distribution and playing as a ‘sweeper-keeper’, Ferdinand believes that Ederson is on a different level compared to Raya. While Raya’s passing and playmaking abilities still need improvement, Ederson excels in breaking lines and distributing the ball with accuracy. Ferdinand’s assessment reflects his belief that Ederson’s performances this season have been superior to those of Arsenal’s goalkeeper, David Raya.
