Manchester City have reportedly made an approach to the representatives of a current Premier League player for a potential summer transfer move. The Manchester club has a history of signing players from fellow Premier League clubs and it seems they are interested in this top-flight player. The player in question is Bruno Guimaraes, who currently plays for Newcastle United after being signed for £40 million in the January transfer window. Guimaraes has had a successful season with Newcastle, making 31 Premier League appearances and showcasing his abilities both in attack and defense.
City are looking for a player to complement their midfielder Rodri and see Guimaraes as a suitable option due to his versatility in playing as a number six or a number eight. The Brazilian midfielder has impressed with his stats this season, leading in shot-creating actions, passes into the penalty area, recoveries, tackles, and interceptions at Newcastle. Pep Guardiola has also praised Guimaraes as an “exceptional” player, further fueling City’s interest in him. While a move for Guimaraes would be a top signing for City, it may be difficult to convince Newcastle to sell their star midfielder to a fellow Premier League side.
The report suggests that PSG are also contemplating a move for Guimaraes, indicating potential competition for his signature. Given Guimaraes’ performance and impact at Newcastle, it is likely that the club would demand a significant transfer fee for his departure. City will have to negotiate with Newcastle and potentially outbid other interested clubs if they want to secure the services of the talented Brazilian midfielder for the upcoming season.
