Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has provided an update on winger Jeremy Doku’s fitness following his absence from Champions League action.
Doku missed the final training session before the quarter-final meeting with Copenhagen, raising concerns about his availability for the upcoming Premier League match against Liverpool.
Although he played in the win over Manchester United, his absence in midweek has left his status uncertain.
Guardiola will be hoping that Doku’s issue is not serious, especially with Jack Grealish also sidelined with a groin problem.
Speaking after the win over FC Copenhagen, Guardiola mentioned that Doku was not involved due to “some niggles” and they did not want to take any risks with him.
Manchester City will face Liverpool in a crucial match to maintain their lead in the Premier League title race. They also have a quarter-final in the Emirates FA Cup against Newcastle United and a league game against Arsenal coming up in March.
Additionally, they await the draw for the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals in April.
Guardiola remains optimistic about Doku’s fitness and is managing the situation carefully to ensure his players are in the best condition for their important upcoming fixtures.
With a busy schedule ahead, Manchester City will need all their key players fit and ready to compete at the highest level.
