Former Manchester United and Liverpool striker Michael Owen believes Manchester City will win the Premier League title this season. Despite his personal connection to his former clubs, Owen cannot overlook the strength and current form of Pep Guardiola’s side, who he considers to be the best team in the world at the moment.
Owen acknowledges that this season holds the potential for an incredible story, especially with Jurgen Klopp potentially leading Liverpool to the title in his last season. However, he believes City’s consistency and quality make them the favorites to come out on top. Their upcoming fixtures provide them with what Owen describes as the easiest run-in compared to other top contenders.
Although Arsenal currently tops the table on goal difference, Owen does not see them maintaining that position. He expects City to overtake the Gunners and potentially secure the title by the end of the season. The crucial match against Arsenal on March 31st will provide more clarity on City’s prospects, with Guardiola hoping for key players like Ederson and Kevin De Bruyne to recover from their injuries in time for the game.
Guardiola’s team faces a challenging schedule in the final stretch of the season, including away fixtures against Tottenham and Brighton. However, the majority of their remaining matches against top 10 opponents will take place at the Etihad Stadium, giving them a significant advantage. If City can defeat Arsenal and build momentum in the last nine games, they will be well-positioned to secure another Premier League title.
