Reports suggest that Etihad Stadium officials have identified a potential replacement for current second-choice goalkeeper Stefan Ortega ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.

Ortega, who joined Manchester City in 2022, has been a successful backup to Ederson, performing well in limited UEFA Champions League and Premier League appearances and winning Treble winner’s medals in his debut season.

However, with Ortega seeking more playing time, interest in his services is rising, leading Etihad Stadium transfer officials to consider potential replacements. AS Roma goalkeeper Mile Svilar has emerged as an option for City, with Wolves also interested in the Serie A player.

Ortega’s contract with City expires in 2025, and with clubs in Europe and the Middle East eyeing him, City may look to bolster their goalkeeping options. Ortega, who turned down Bayern Munich last summer to stay at City, has attracted interest from clubs seeking to capitalize on his limited playing time.

Manchester City reportedly rejected approaches for Ortega in the January transfer window, with Nottingham Forest among the suitors. As the summer market approaches, interest in Ortega’s services is expected to continue.
