Manchester City have reached a deal with US teenage sensation to secure his signing

Manchester City and Philadelphia Union have reached an agreement for the transfer of 14-year-old Cavan Sullivan.

The teenager will be joining the City Football Group (CFG) network, with plans for him to move to the Etihad Stadium upon turning 18. There is also the possibility of him moving to one of the CFG’s other clubs globally before then.

Currently, the City Football Group consists of 13 clubs including Manchester City in the Premier League, Girona in La Liga, and New York City FC in the MLS, along with several other teams across Europe, South America, and Asia.

Sullivan is following in the footsteps of other American players who have made the move to Manchester City, such as Zack Steffen, Carli Lloyd, and Abby Dahlkemper.

Despite interest from Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund, Sullivan has chosen to make the move to Manchester City, where he is known as ‘Captain America’ by his coaches and teammates.

Having made his professional debut recently, Sullivan has already had success with the USNMNT Under-15s, being named player of the tournament at the 2023 CONCACAF Championship.

The Athletic report confirms the agreement between Manchester City and Philadelphia Union regarding the future transfer of Sullivan, as well as his record-breaking deal in MLS.

Sullivan will join Manchester City at 18 and the deal is said to have significant add-ons and a sell-on clause. There is also potential for him to join the CFG earlier if his development surpasses the MLS level.

This summer, Sullivan may have the opportunity to see his future club in action as Manchester City travels to the United States for pre-season friendlies against Celtic, Barcelona, AC Milan, and Chelsea. He will also get to see them compete in the FIFA Club World Cup in America in 2025.
