Manchester City is reportedly interested in River Plate’s young talent Franco Mastantuono.
At just 16 years old, Mastantuono’s contract with the Buenos Aires club is set to expire in December 2025, attracting attention from top European clubs due to his promising talent in South American football.
The skilled winger had already made appearances for Argentina’s U17 team at 15 and quickly progressed to the U20 squad after impressive performances with River Plate’s youth teams.
In August 2023, Mastantuono signed his first professional contract with River Plate, including a €30 million release clause in his deal with the club.
According to a report from Sport Witness, Real Madrid is also pursuing Mastantuono, along with other giants like Manchester City, Barcelona, Paris Saint Germain, Borussia Dortmund, Benfica, and Inter Milan.
Manchester City has built a strong relationship with River Plate, completing deals for Julian Alvarez in January 2022 and Claudio Echeverri in the following January window.
While various clubs are interested in Mastantuono, Manchester City’s successful history of deals with River Plate could give them an edge in securing the young talent.
Looking ahead on the pitch, Manchester City will face league leaders Arsenal in a crucial match at the Etihad Stadium after the international break, with a chance to reclaim the top spot in the Premier League standings.
