Manchester City recently made a travel decision that raised eyebrows at Liverpool for an Under-23s meeting between the two clubs, as per a new report.

Manchester City and Liverpool have been the top squads in the Premier League for almost a decade, with Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp competing for the top spot.

Guardiola has won five seasons in England and is now aiming for a fourth successive Premier League title, while Klopp’s reign at Anfield is coming to an end.

Aside from the rivalry between the senior squads, Manchester City and Liverpool seem to be taking subtle jabs at each other even at the Academy level, with a recent incident highlighted in a new report.

According to a report by MailSport’s Mike Keegan, eyebrows were raised at Liverpool’s training ground when Manchester City’s Under-23s arrived for a match in the first-team bus, adorned with the five trophies won last season.

It is reported that some speculate the move was a cheeky attempt by Manchester City officials to emphasize their superiority from the previous year, adding to the rivalry both on and off the field.

Merseyside Police ensured there were no repeat of past issues as Manchester City and their coach arrived at Anfield for the recent Premier League meeting.

The match ended in a 1-1 draw, with John Stones’ goal for Manchester City canceled out by an Alexis Mac Allister penalty early in the second half.

Manchester City, Liverpool, and Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are in a tight race for the Premier League title, with Arsenal set to face Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium after the international break.
