In anticipation of the highly anticipated clash between Manchester City and Liverpool, Kyle Walker shared a message with his teammates that the outcome of the game would not define their season.

The match ended in a 1-1 draw, leading to discussions about the Premier League title race and whether City or Liverpool had the upper hand.

Despite the draw, with Arsenal also in contention and all three teams closely bunched together in points, it was too early to crown any team as the champions-elect.

Walker emphasized the need to focus on the bigger picture and the long road ahead in the Premier League campaign.

“I said to the lads in the dressing room at the start, this game isn’t going to define our season. It’s going to put us in a big step in the right direction towards our ultimate goal at the end of the season but it’s not going to define our season”, he said.

Walker added, “We know the Premier League, we’ve been here for many, many years and we’ve seen a lot of twists and turns, up and downs. So, there’s a lot of football to be played, as you said, there’s 10 important games to play and hopefully, Manchester City will go and do that big four in a row, which no one’s done.”

“In the midst of all that, we’ve got the FA Cup, we’ve got the Champions League, there’s going to be injuries, there’s going to be setbacks, we just have to manage each game as it comes. I’m a big believer of that, don’t look too far into the future, a game at a time because there’s not too much you can affect.”

There were speculations that Guardiola may have played for a draw, especially during the second half when Liverpool seemed to dominate the game.

Whether this was true or not, Walker’s perspective on the game and the title race as a whole resonated with a sense of calm and composure.

As the race to the title unfolds, Walker’s realistic outlook serves as a reminder that success in the Premier League is not determined by one game but by consistency and resilience over the course of the season.

With multiple competitions to contend with, including the FA Cup and the Champions League, Walker’s grounded approach to the challenges ahead is a valuable asset for Manchester City.
