Steven Caulker has pointed out that one Manchester City player has not performed at the same level as last season, despite the team’s success in winning the Premier League title, FA Cup and Champions League. Caulker specifically mentioned Erling Haaland, stating that the striker has not been as impressive as he was in the previous campaign. Haaland, who joined City from Borussia Dortmund for £51m, had a phenomenal debut season, scoring 52 goals in 53 appearances across all competitions. However, this season Haaland has faced challenges such as an ankle injury and playing without key player Kevin De Bruyne, which may have impacted his performance.
Despite scoring 29 goals in 34 games this season, with 18 in the Premier League, Caulker believes that Haaland has not been able to replicate his form from last season. As City aim to win a consecutive Treble, the pressure is on for Haaland to step up and continue scoring goals consistently. With the team entering a crucial stage of the season after the international break, City will rely on their star striker to perform at his best and help them secure more titles. Haaland’s ability to find his form and maintain his goal-scoring prowess will be crucial for City’s success in the upcoming matches.
