Manchester City captain Kyle Walker has praised his Premier League rival and international teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The 33-year-old is the latest Manchester City player to discuss Liverpool full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold, who has faced criticism recently. This follows bizarre comments made prior to Liverpool’s Premier League clash with Manchester City.
In their recent match at Anfield, Manchester City drew 1-1 with Liverpool, with John Stones scoring the first goal for City and Alexis Mac Allister equalizing from a penalty for Liverpool.
Pep Guardiola, Jurgen Klopp, and Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are competing for the Premier League title, with only one point separating the three teams. Manchester City will face Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
Kyle Walker, the captain of Manchester City, may not play in the upcoming match due to a suspected hamstring injury sustained while playing for Brazil. He is one of seven potential injury concerns for City.
In a recent interview, the 33-year-old praised his title rival Alexander-Arnold, highlighting the Liverpool player’s passing abilities.
“Trent is a quarterback at right-back. I’ve never seen anyone pass the ball like it. Left, right foot, snow on it when needed, or ping straight to the chest,” he said in an interview with Rio Ferdinand’s YouTube channel.
“I think people criticize him for defending, but they can criticize me for my crossing. Let’s just say that. No one is perfect. I believe he has significantly improved his defending, and it will continue to improve with age and experience. He’s younger than me and still has much to learn in the game, but he is eager to learn and will only get better with experience.”
Walker and Alexander-Arnold could potentially compete directly at the upcoming European Championship, with Southgate previously deploying Alexander-Arnold in a midfield role.
