Julian Alvarez has delivered a strong warning to Manchester City’s rivals this season about the club’s ambitions in the coming months. The Argentine star scored two goals in Wednesday night’s victory over Burnley, putting him on par with Erling Haaland for the ongoing season as he fills in for the injured Norway superstar.
The win against Burnley kept Manchester City in contention for the Premier League title this season, but it seems the team has their sights set on more than just a fourth successive English top-flight award.
In an exclusive interview with Goal, Alvarez expressed his belief that back-to-back Treble is an achievable goal for Manchester City given the quality and experience of the team.
“Yes, obviously I think we can,” Alvarez stressed. “In the final few months of the season, we’re fighting for all the competitions, we’re good as a group and I think we can do it.”
Alvarez continued, “I have that feeling, but it’s not just him and his demands, it’s a bit of us too. We’re very competitive and we always want to go for more and that’s what we’re doing this season, trying to do it again.”
Manchester City is looking ahead to their match against Brentford next week, and they are focused on overcoming the challenges posed by their opponents to continue their winning streak.
The team’s busy schedule for February includes the first leg of their UEFA Champions League last-16 tie with FC Copenhagen. Despite facing tough competition, Manchester City remains confident in their ability to perform at the highest level and pursue their goals for the remainder of the season. With their competitive spirit and strong teamwork, they are determined to go for more and aim for success in all competitions.
