Micah Richards has expressed his belief that Harry Kane should have exercised more patience and waited to sign for Manchester City or Real Madrid instead of joining Bayern Munich.
This statement comes after Kane’s move to Bayern this past summer in a record-breaking £82m transfer. While Kane has been successful in terms of goal-scoring for Bayern, the team’s performance has not yielded any trophies.
This has sparked speculation about whether Kane should have waited until 2024 when he could have become a free agent to seek out other clubs, as noted by Richards.
Speaking on the The Rest is Football podcast, Richards said: “He should have waited.
“We talked about the move, you and Alan said it was a great move I said it was an amazing move for the size of the club.
“But if you’re going to leave Spurs and could potentially go on a free contract you’ve got to go to Real Madrid or Man City just because where they were. I’m not saying it’s a mistake.”
These views from Richards come as part of a larger discussion within football circles about the trajectory of Kane’s career and whether a move to Bayern was the best choice, particularly in light of the club’s recent performance.
True to the nature of football, opinions on this topic remain diverse and open for debate.
