Manchester City has recently shared a cryptic social media post featuring Phil Foden following Sunday’s Carabao Cup Final between Liverpool and Chelsea. Foden, who scored the winning goal in Manchester City’s Premier League victory over Bournemouth, was shown in a cryotherapy chamber for post-match recovery. The team is gearing up for their upcoming Emirates FA Cup match against Luton Town, with Foden having scored in their last three away matches.
Foden has been in fantastic form this season, scoring against Brentford, FC Copenhagen, and Bournemouth. His goal against Bournemouth marked his 16th of the campaign as he has been vital for City in the absence of Kevin De Bruyne. Despite De Bruyne’s injury, Foden has managed to win 16 trophies and make 256 appearances for Manchester City since his debut in 2017.
A recent image posted by Manchester City’s official account on Twitter has sparked controversy, with many accusing the team of trolling former teammate Cole Palmer. Palmer, who left City for Chelsea in a high-profile transfer, started the Carabao Cup Final for Chelsea. The post, which featured three cold shivering emoji’s, was posted shortly after Chelsea’s defeat to Liverpool in the final.
Although Palmer has had success against City in the past, Foden’s contributions to the team cannot be overlooked. He has won the League Cup with Manchester City on four previous occasions and was named Man of the Match in the Final against Aston Villa in 2020. Foden’s impressive performances continue to solidify his place as a key player for City.
