Etihad Stadium executives are on track to benefit from their negotiation strategies and the fine talent in their academy on Deadline Day thanks to two agreements in the Premier League.

It is anticipated that Manchester City will not make any major moves in the ongoing transfer deadline day to bring new players into Pep Guardiola’s first-team squad. However, there is likely to be significant activity on the departures front.

City officials are currently in the process of arranging loan deals for some of their most promising prospects from the academy squad. They are also open to discussing permanent deals on the right terms.

Additionally, the club is expected to benefit from sell-on clauses in both the immediate and longer-term future. Two deals finalized on deadline day showcase the excellent groundwork put in place by Manchester City transfer bosses.

In the first completed deal, Aston Villa announced the signing of wide attacking talent Morgan Rogers from Middlesbrough. This deal will see City receive 25% of Aston Villa’s transfer fee as a result of a sell-on clause included in last summer’s agreement with Middlesbrough.

Aston Villa has agreed to an initial £8 million transfer fee for the player, with a further £7 million potentially coming in add-ons.

Manchester City is also set to benefit from the sale of another exciting talent from their prestigious academy system. This time, Newcastle United is the side that has successfully negotiated with the champions. The overall deal with Newcastle United could rise to as high as £3.5 million through add-ons. Additionally, a 40% sell-on clause has been installed into the agreement.

There is an expectation that more names from the City Football Academy and Etihad Stadium could make moves away from the club in the coming hours. Despite intense interest from across the Championship, Manchester City seems largely insistent on retaining one player into the second half of the ongoing season.

As for another highly-rated midfielder, Kian Breckin, it is widely expected that he will make a move into League Two in the closing stages of the market on a loan agreement, following a failed loan move to Wycombe Wanderers in the first half of the season.
