Manchester City has finally broken their losing streak at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with a late Nathan Aké goal on Friday evening.

The Premier League champions had never won a game or even scored a goal at the new Spurs stadium, but both of those streaks were snapped in their recent game.

Nathan Aké scored the winning goal in the dying minutes of the match after a tight and goalless affair for the first 80 minutes.

After the match, Aké expressed his happiness, stating that they played really well and that it was tough, but they had to score.

I’m so happy,” Aké said. “It was tough, we played really well. We had to score. It didn’t happen for a long time but luckily we got it.

“I’m not sure what happened [for the goal]. I just touched it in. I will have to see it back. I don’t know what happened.”

The goal was heavily protested by the Tottenham players, who felt that there was a foul on their goalkeeper, but after a VAR check, the referee’s decision to award the goal was confirmed.

This victory ensures that Manchester City will avoid a fourth round replay and will move on to the fifth round as they look to hunt down a second consecutive FA Cup triumph.

Next up for Guardiola’s men is a Premier League showdown against Vincent Kompany’s Burnley side at the Etihad Stadium to close out January. Currently sitting five points behind league leaders Liverpool, City does have a game in hand.

The Dutchman, Nathan Aké, said that he’s not sure what happened for the goal, but he just touched it in and would have to see it back to understand.

The victory puts Manchester City in a good position in the FA Cup and will be looking to continue their winning momentum in the upcoming games.
