After Manchester City secured their spot in the next round of the FA Cup with a late goal against Tottenham Hotspur, Pep Guardiola was spotted doing something interesting that caught a lot of attention.
Even after a hard-fought game on the pitch, the 53-year-old was seen shouting at Ruben Dias in a very animated fashion.
A video shared by the FA Cup’s official account showed Guardiola speaking to Dias in a way that suggested he was directing the defender on what to do in certain game situations.
This incident is not the first time Guardiola has been seen having an intense on-pitch discussion with one of his players.
He did the same thing to Erling Haaland at halftime during City’s first Premier League game of the season against Burnley back in August.
It is clear that Guardiola is not shy about conveying his message to his players, no matter the stage of the game or where they are playing.
As for Dias’ performance in the game against Spurs, the Portuguese international showcased his defensive abilities by making five clearances, four tackles, and one interception.
He also won six of the 11 duels he was involved in and completed the game without being dribbled past by an opponent.
These stats earned Dias an overall match rating of 7.4/10 from SofaScore, making him the joint-third-highest rated City player on the night. Considering Dias’ impressive performance, it’s hard to imagine what Guardiola may have been eager to tell him other than congratulations.
Given his animated display on the pitch, it is evident that Guardiola is deeply invested in guiding his players and ensuring they perform at their best.
His hands-on approach and willingness to address players’ performances publicly demonstrates his commitment to building a strong and competitive team.
Guardiola’s intensity and dedication to player development are valuable qualities that contribute to Manchester City’s success.
