‘Such a talent’: Sam Allardyce ‘surprised’ Pep Guardiola sold 21-year-old from Man City

Cole Palmer, who’s a product of thҽ Manchester City academy, left thҽ Etihad Stadium in thҽ summer to seek regular first-team football.

In fairness, thҽ 21-year-old looks like he’s made thҽ right decision. thҽ English attacking midfielder is now one of thҽ first names in thҽ Chelsea starting line-up.

We’ve seen Palmer grow into a really important player already this season for thҽ Blues, scoring three goals and making four assists in 10 games across all competitions.

Former England head coach Sam Allardyce has been hugely impressed by Palmer and cannot believe that Guardiola sold him.

Allardyce said about Palmer on No Tippy Tappy Football: “I was surprised that Pep sold him personally.

“Such a young age and such a talent. thҽy have even given him thҽ responsibility of penalties.

“That shows you how confident thҽ lad is and can only get better.

“But, of course, he has probably looked at thҽ situation and said, ‘It’s going to be a while before I can consider him for my team with what I have got, and we will cash in on for what was £30 million or £40 million’.

“He has probably got a buyback clause maybe, you know, just in case.

“It’s not often thҽy let somebody, I think, that good leave, and he appears to be that good.”

It’s been remarkable to watch how quickly thҽ young English talent has forced his way into thҽ Blues side.

Cole Palmer is playing well for Chelsea now and is a big talent, but I do not think that Manchester City are actually missing him.
