Manchester City have been named as a potential ‘option’ for Joshua Kimmich should he decide to leave Bayern Munich.
Since moving inside from right-back during current City manager Pep Guardiola’s tenure as manager in Bavaria, the central-midfielder has been a talisman for both Germany and the Bundesliga’s biggest clubs.
Even though the German international is regarded as one of German football’s future greats, reports suggest that a deal to extend his contract with Bayern Munich when it expires in 2025 is not a “foregone conclusion.”
According to reports from Sport1 and relayed by Sports Witness, Kimmich hasn’t ‘felt the trust’ of the club in recent times and will evaluate Bayern’s direction as he makes the decision over renewing his contract.
City are said to be one of those, alongside LaLiga giants Barcelona – who could compete with Pep Guardiola’s side for the midfielder’s signature.
The report adds that should Kimmich decide not to extend his stay at the German side, then next summer would be Bayern’s ‘last opportunity’ to generate a transfer fee through his sale.
Kimmich played for City manager Guardiola at Bayern and so a move could see the pair reunite in Manchester.
