Paul Tierney will take charge of Manchester City’s visit to face rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford, the Premier League have announced.

City head into the clash as the heavy favourites after United’s below-par start to the season.

Currently, Manchester City sit in second place in the Premier League table while Manchester United are in eighth place

City have hit a tough spell after losing two in a row against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Arsenal.

However, the reigning champions bounced back with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Brighton and Hove Albion.

Ahead of Sunday’s clash, the Premier League have announced the Match Officials for Manchester City’s match against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Paul Tierney has been named as the referee for this Sunday’s meeting between Manchester United and Manchester City at Old Trafford.

The 42-year-old, who has officiated six matches so far this season, has shown 28 yellow cards and three red cards.

Tierney last took charge of Manchester City in June, for the the Emirates FA Cup Final clash against Manchester United at Wembley Stadium.

Joining Tierney at Old Trafford this weekend will be assistant referees Neil Davies and Scott Ledger while VAR official are Michael Oliver and Stuart Burt and Craig Pawson the fourth official for Sunday’s match.
