‘Another Alvarez type signing?’, ‘Hope he makes it to the first team’ – Man City fans react as club ‘agree deal in principle with Boca Juniors star’

It has been reported that Manchester City have struck an agreement to sign Boca Juniors gem Valentin Barco.

The 19-year-old is a rising star at the Argentine club and is predominantly deployed in a left-back role. So far this season, Barco has scored once and grabbed two assists.

Branded as a ‘rare’ talent by Foot The Ball, the teenager is considered as one of the most talented up-and-coming youngsters in South America.

A left-back by trade, Barco’s experience of playing in midfield makes him the perfect candidate to operate in an inverted position which Guardiola has been historically to from his full-backs.

Now, it has been revealed that Manchester City have indeed ‘reached an agreement in principle’ over the signing of Valentin Barco.

According to TYC Sports journalist German Garcia Grova, an agreement has been reached between the club and the player for the transfer.

City’s negotiation team have now travelled to South America to conduct further talks with Boca to try and push the deal over the line. Brighton were thought to be interested in Barco but the lure of the Blues was enough to convince the teenager to move to Manchester.

It was originally believed City were trying to hash out a deal with Boca but instead changed their approach and went directly to the player so as to strengthen their negotiating position.

The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
