‘It’s taking too long’, ‘We Might just walk away’ – Manchester City fans react as Fabrizio Romano provides update on Josko Gvardiol

Manchester City have scheduled a new round of talks to make decisive steps on the Joško Gvardiol deal, expected to take place next week, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

City are looking to make the RB Leipzig centre-back their second signing of the summer, following the £25m arrival of Mateo Kovacic from Chelsea.

City believe that a deal is close, but that there are still details to be ironed out. As confirmed by Leipzig’s sporting director Max Eberl last month, Gvardiol and his representatives have made his intention to join City clear.

Given the clear stance of the player, all that is left to do before the Croatia international makes the move to the Etihad Stadium is for the two clubs to reach an agreement over a transfer fee – a task that is proving to be more difficult than some may have initially imagined.

However, there is a desire from both sides to come to a conclusion in the coming days and weeks, and a new report has detailed a fresh round of talks that have now been booked in between the Premier League and Bundesliga clubs.

That is according to the information of the ever-reliable Fabrizio Romano, who states that Manchester City have now scheduled a new round of talks to make ‘decisive steps’ on the Joško Gvardiol deal. It is stated that those dialogues are expected to take place in the next week.

It is further reaffirmed that negotiations between the two clubs are continuing after an initial approach from Manchester City for a deal worth €75 million plus add-ons were rejected by the German club who, as we know, want at least €100 million.

The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.

@Jhstones5: “It’s taking too long ffs.”

@im_vipox: “It’s crazy how long it takes them to sign him. I mean it is not like we don’t have the money or anything”

@ItsDebruyneSzn: “It seems like we aren’t budging to pay that €100 million.”

@kdbthekingg: “Might just walk away from the deal.”

@mcfcalfie: “Ultimately, we’re waiting for Laporte to depart. We’re waiting for his suitors to come in for him. I don’t think we buy Gvardiol until we sell Laporte. We lose any negotiation stance on Laporte then..”
