‘Horrendous if it’s true’, ‘very disrespectful towards Ayme’ – Man City fans react as club reportedly set ‘laughable’ Laporte asking price

Manchester City will demand €30million (around £25million) for Ayermic Laporte this summer with Juventus among several interested sides, according to reports in Italy.

Laporte’s future at the Etihad has been uncertain since the final weeks of last season, with the 29-year-old falling down the pecking order under Pep Guardiola.

The likes of John Stones, Ruben Dias and Manuel Akanji all found an extra gear in the treble run, limiting their defensive teammate to starts in the Premier League with the title all but secured.

City have identified Josko Gvardiol as their main focus after signing Mateo Kovacic from Chelsea, and the arrival of the defender from RB Leipzig would only restrict Laporte’s minutes further.

And as such, Sky Sports Italia (via Tutto Juve) reports that Guardiola would be open to selling the Spaniard.

Those in charge at the Etihad will demand around £25million for Laporte, meaning they would recoup a little less than half of the £57million they spent on him five years ago.

However the report adds that Juventus are hopeful they can still get that fee down.

The report shared on Twitter gathered a number of replies from a wide range of Man City supporters.

@CityCookingOil1: “£25M itself is a very low price! Juventus wants to even lower that!.”

@FPL_JD: “This is horrendous if it’s true..”

@AmgR0216: “Laughable, worth 40-70 mill atleast”

@dididds11: “It should be at least 40m.”

@JohnWinmill: “That’s very disrespectful towards Ayme.”

@MariusMirea47: “That fee would be ridiculous. He is a great player in his prime years and a starter for Spain national team who just won Nations League. Not to mention the great years he had at City. 25 mil? No way.”

@CityBlue47: “Letting Laporte leave for anything less than €50m is criminal”

@NickMCFC1894: “30m for a guy of his quality is Insane. We’re one of the worst selling clubs around…”

@rfimor: “25m is almost an insult to Laporte.
If this’s true, I’d be very surprised if there aren’t 3-5 clubs sending offers.”
