‘Ah no!’, ‘thought this matter was put to bed weeks ago’ – Many fans react as European giants confident of signing ‘world class’ Man City star

Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Bayern Munich are confident of securing a transfer deal for Kyle Walker this summer.

This time last year the idea of Walker leaving City seemed unthinkable, such was the key role he played in multiple Premier League winning sides.

However, after the World Cup the 33-year-old lost his place in City’s starting XI, with just 31 starts last season, a joint-lowest total since the England international moved to East Manchester from Tottenham in 2017 for an initial £45 million.

Pep Guardiola said the right-back, who has made 254 appearances and won 14 trophies during his time at the Etihad Stadium to date, was not able to invert into midfield as he’d like.

The 33 year-old has entered the final 12 months of his current contract, and as a result is one of several senior Manchester City players linked with a potential summer exit following the treble triumph.

The England international has been linked with a move to the German club in recent weeks since City brought an end to their treble-winning season.

Now, some fresh behind-the-scenes details have emerged on this particular transfer saga.

According to a recent report from BILD (via Sport Witness) Bayern are waiting for Walker to make his final decision about whether he’ll join them or stay at City.

The report also adds that the German club feel that their contract offer of two years plus an extra third, is lucrative enough to tempt the defender, who is seen as a top target for Thomas Tuchel, to make a move to Munich.

The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.

@FMikusiak: “Ah no, Kyle has to stay, @kylewalker2 stay at City!”

@Deyo17ii: “We need to keep him”

@9xl_11: “We cannoh replace him”

@ski529: “I thought this matter was put to bed weeks ago..”

@erniesak: “City’s board should do everything possible to keep Walker.”

@u_Thato: “We should have a deadline on these decisions. Losing players a week away from training is nuts.”

@ManCityParrot: “City are too focused on not having an aged squad. Same issue we had with Gundogan. Give him 3 year or 2 years with an option to renew. Luka Modric is 37 and still playing. It depends on the individual and his body. Walker will still be fast even at 40.”
