Man City will want to sell Bernardo Silva for as much as Declan Rice- journalist

Manchester City will demand as high a fee for Bernardo Silva as West Ham United have asked for to sell Declan Rice.

The Portugal international is continuing to stall on ironing out his Manchester City future, having sought out an exit from the Etihad Stadium for the past couple of seasons after becoming unhappy with the lifestyle on offer in the north-west of England.

Last summer, both FC Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain failed to come to an agreement with the Premier League champions over a transfer fee, with Bernardo Silva valued by the club at around £80 million due to his contractual situation.

While the aforementioned duo of clubs are expected to remain interested in Bernardo Silva this summer, a new opportunity has emerged that could take the Champions League winner away from European football entirely.

Report recently claim Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal would be prepared to pay Bernardo Silva a basic wage of around £40 million per year, with other bonuses and earning opportunities on top.

After journalist David Ornstein reported on Wednesday that Arsenal had agreed a deal to sign Declan Rice, Manchester City could demand as much of a fee to sell Bernardo Silva.

Now, Jack Gaughan has reported that as suitors look to sign Bernardo Silva in the summer, the £105 million fee that West Ham are set to bank from the sale of Declan Rice will be used ‘as a gauge’ by Manchester City.

After all, the club believe that much like the Englishman, the five-time Premier League winner’s contract also runs out in 2025, while the former’s had an option to extend his deal for an extra year.

Manchester City must not budge at all

The logic makes sense from Manchester City as while Declan Rice is a cracking player, Bernardo Silva has been on another stratosphere to him for years on end.

The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.

@umirf1: “If Rice’s fee is a gauge for Bernardo’s, Bernardo’s fee would be 200Ms..”

@Thebigkun: “Bernardo should be worth at least 150”

@DavidGr00471175: “Rice and Silva are completely different midfielders so price is not comparable at all. Silva is technically one of best in Europe, no one has the close control he has and energy levels, plus versatility.”

@HoodieFoden: “Bernardo is far more valuable than Rice and nobody is going to pay us that outside of Saudi really. So just bump his wages and try to make him happy with staying”

@Iewis: “If Rice is £100M I better not see Bernardo be sold for anything less.”

@Seee_Hen: “So Man City expect minimum €105m for Bernardo if he wants to go. That indirectly means he’s staying”
