Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims the club have an interest in signing Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams.

The 20-year-old has emerged as a summer target for many Premier league side ahead of the summer transfer window, which has now officially opened for business. The Spaniard scored six goals and provided five assists in La Liga for Bilbao last season.

Williams opted to remain in Spain back in January when interest from some Premier League sides first emerged. But as the transfer window officially opens, reports have again emerged linking him with a move away.

According to a recent report from 90 Min, Manchester City and Newcastle United have enquired about Williams in recent months ahead of the summer transfer window, which has now officially opened for business.

The report also adds that Aston Villa have opened talks with Bilbao over a potential deal for the winger, who Arsenal are also looking at.

Williams is the sort of player who would fit well into Pep Guardiola’s preferred 4-3-3 system as the versatile forward can play on the left and right wings.
