Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims the club could consider using Carlos Borges in a deal to buy West Ham captain Declan Rice.
Rice is set to leave West Ham in one of the biggest transfers of the summer due to the Hammers asking for a minimum fee for £90 million after an impressive season which saw him lead the club to glory in the Europa Conference League.
Arsenal were the side linked with him the most as they look to improve their squad to try an go one better next season.
It seemed that they would have a free run at signing Rice due to Bayern Munich losing their interest but now Manchester City have decided to compete with the Gunners for Rice’s signature.
ExWHU Employee revealed on his West Ham Way podcast (subscription) required (h/t West Ham Zone), that City are willing to offer Carlos Borges as part of the deal.
He notes that Kalvin Phillips isn’t interested in being used as a makeweight, and City could therefore consider offering 19-year-old winger instead.
The report shared on Twitter gathered a number of replies from a wide range of Man City supporters.
@Atom1PS: “So we want a new winger but seemingly won’t give the person who lit up the PL2 with insane numbers but we’ll throw serious resources for Rice? I honestly don’t understand this. Feel like we’re getting too deep in this deal”
@VuseleloMamba: “Borges is a great player, don’t let him go”
@SBFCOK: “Letting go of Borges when we are in the market for a winger is ridiculous.”
@SBFCOK: “We literally need a winger. Borges is that guy to be a starter or back up for whatever LW we secure this summer”
@Insane_t10: “We can’t let Carlos go. His potencial is insane”
@MCFC_Erik: “If it’s not a loan deal then we should not do that”
