Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte has reportedly found himself on Tottenham Hotspur’s radar ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.
The 28-year-old Premier League winner has been a key signing for Guardiola. But the Spanish international has fallen down the pecking order over the last 18 months.
Laporte has only made ten Premier League appearances this season while not starting a single game for Manchester City in the Champions League knockout stages.
He currently languishes behind Ruben Dias, John Stones, Manuel Akanji and Nathan Ake in the pecking order at Manchester City. The situation is not good for a Spanish international, and he might look to leave.
Pep Guardiola’s side are even reportedly ready to sell him for the right offer and remains aware of the growing interest in the defender.
According to a recent report from The Times, Laporte could push to leave the Manchester club this summer and currently has Barcelona and Tottenham Hotspur monitoring his situation.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
@mbaalt8: “Selling him and getting Gvardiol should not affect our summer plans. We need to improve the squad. Not just replace players leaving..”
@aswan_jay: “Tottenham?!, no way City is doing business with tricks, besides that would spell a downgrade of the Century for Aymer. No way”
@rds1678: “He won’t downgrade to Spurs”
@greater_koirala: “He’s never gonna downgrade to Spurs!!”
@Aliyo_Jerry: “Sell him abroad.”
@NeonNicole95: “If he does go I hope its to Barca cause he is way too good for Spurs..”
@Mo_Aziz17: “He is not going to Tottenham… But he is going”
@FavelaFIair: “As long as he doesn’t go to spurs we’re calma.”
@cye_nood: “All the best to him but if there is any truth to the rumours that we are getting Gvardol I wouldn’t care where Laporte goes to. Gvardol could end up being the best defender in the premier league one day”
