‘Not bad if we sign him!’, ‘could be a good fit’ – Man City fans react as club plot move for €60m-rated Real Madrid defender

Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report of the club’s interest in Real Madrid defender Ferland Mendy.

The 27-year-old made the move to Bernabeu from Lyon in 2019, and he has represented Los Blancos on 130 occasions in all competitions, contributing five goals and 10 assists in the process.

Mendy has won two La Liga titles, two Spanish Super Cups, the Champions League and the UEFA Super Cup during a successful period in the Spanish capital.

However, the France international has been restricted to just 25 appearances in all competitions this season due to injury problems.

Mendy has only just returned from a muscular problem, featuring as a second-half substitute in Real Madrid’s 2-1 defeat to Barcelona in La Liga before the international break.

However, the left-back is now facing a month on the sidelines with a calf issue that he picked up during a training session with his Spanish club.

Mendy has another two years left to run on his contract, but there has been speculation surrounding his future over the last few months.

According to Fichajes, Man City, Arsenal and Newcastle are interested in signing the defender this summer, and the Premier League club would be prepared to pay in the region of €60m (£53m) for his signature.

The report claims that Real Madrid are willing to sell the Frenchman, viewing him as a player capable of raising a healthy transfer fee in the summer market.

The report shared on Twitter gathered a number of replies from a wide range of Man City supporters.
