Manchester City will reportedly not stand in Aymeric Laporte’s way if the defender wants to leave the Etihad Stadium in the summer transfer window.
Laporte has been a key player in Pep Guardiola’s recent success, in particular last season where he played through pain barrier in order to help City marginally beat Liverpool to the title.
But he eventually needed a knee-injury which kept him away from action for a while which then resulted in him losing out his place in the City team.
Rumours have been circulating for a while that the Spanish international has been becoming restless in Manchester and is looking for an exit.
According to the latest report from Daily Mail, Manchester City will be open to letting Aymeric Laporte leave the club if the player desires to leave.
The report claims that City will “not stand in the way” of the centre-back as Pep Guardiola does not want unhappy players in his squad, which could see the 28-year-old depart at the end of the campaign.
Elsewhere, Manchester City are poised to sign one of the quickest players in Europe to bolster their squad.
That’s according to German journalist Florian Plettenberg who claims City are stepping up interest for Canadian full-back Alphonso Davies, who is one of the quickest players in Europe.
Guardiola has used four centre-backs in his backline of late, favouring Nathan Ake at left-back. This enabled City to widen the pitch with a naturally left-footed player on that side, enabling Jack Grealish to invert on that side.
