Roy Keane has predicted Manchester City to trump Arsenal to win the Premier League title for the third time in a row.
With Mikel Arteta’s side having played an extra game, they currently have an eight-point lead over Pep Guardiola’s men.
And yet, Roy Keane still expects Manchester City and not Arsenal to win the Premier League title at the end of the 2022/2023 season.
As Roy Keane was quizzed about his Premier League title prediction, he explained why he still backs Manchester City over Arsenal to do the business.
“They’re [Arsenal] in a great position, wouldn’t have thought that at the start of the season but they’ve been brilliant, a lot of the young players have been very consistent, they can just focus on the league”, he said on The Overlap.
“They will be definitely favourites for the title. I don’t think they’ll do it. I still have to fancy City but Arsenal have got themselves in a great position. Again, the young players are fantastic. They do have experience. in terms of lads who have won league titles.”
“You need a little bit of luck, injuries over the last few months, they’re in a great position and you have to admire them for that, can’t begrudge them.
“I just think City are that brilliant and you just mentioned the [upcoming tough] games where they have to go and win, and these are obviously pressure games. They’ve not dealt with that over the last few years, even last year with the top four, they came up short so that’s the question mark that’s hanging over them. But again, they’ve been brilliant and if they did go on and win it, you have to give them the plaudits.”
The rationale from Roy Keane certainly makes sense and as impressive as Arsenal have been this season, Manchester City are still a more seasoned bet to win the Premier League title.
