Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims the Premier League champions have held internal discussions over Brighton and Argentina’s Alexis Mac Allister.
In the upcoming transfer window, the Cityzens will look to bring in a midfielder to bolster the engine room especially as the future of Bernardo Silva and Ilkay Gundogan are uncertain. To that end, the Argentina international is being considered as an option.
This season, the Argentine has taken his game to the next level. In 23 appearances in all competitions, the 24-year-old has found the back of the net eight times and has provided one assist.
Mac Allister also raised his stock with some impressive performances in the 2022 World Cup. The 24-year-old was a pivotal member of Lionel Scalonis XI in Qatar. La Albiceleste went on to lift the prestigious trophy, with the midfielder giving an assist in the final.
Mac Allister’s displays have evidently shown that he is capable of playing for a top side. However, whether the Argentine’s next destination will be the Etihad side remains to be seen.
The 24-year-old’s current contract with the Seagulls expires in the summer of 2025. Apart from the Etihad side, Premier League rivals Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea are also interested in him.
Fabrizio Romano has made it clear that the player wants a big move this summer, but he has also stated that Brighton won’t make it easy for him to leave.
Writing in his exclusive Daily Briefing for CaughtOffside, Romano said: “I expect Alexis Mac Allister to have a very good chance to make his top club move in the summer, this is the player’s idea.
“But I’m also sure Brighton will be tough in the negotiations, as always. There are really many clubs following Mac Allister, at this stage everything is premature. I don’t expect him to move for less than €60m.”

In a fresh update on the situation of the in-demand 24 year-old, City are claimed to have now held discussions about the player within the City Football Academy offices, but are certainly not alone in their tenuous interest in the midfielder.
That is according to the information of Ben Jacobs, who reports this week that both Manchester City and Manchester United have discussed Alexis Mac Allister internally, but nothing more than that at this moment in time.
Mac Allister would be a brilliant signing for any top Premier League side including City. He has excellent passing attributes but is equally good with his ability to win tackles and duels.
The report shared on Twitter gathered a number of replies from a wide range of Man City supporters.

@mcfcdavid_27: “Would be mint, sadly brighton are going to ask for like 100 mill”
@NickMCFC1894: “Make it happen @ManCity.”
@KevinDeHaaland: “He’s good but Bellingham is clear”
@Still_Lexxxo: “Bring that boludo over . No more than 50million pounds.”
@JohnWhitting12: “Shame Brighton won’t let him go for a reasonable fee.”
@J1rkaa161: “I hope we are not that d**b like United and we are not about to pay 60mil for him. He is great but not for that price.”
@Komps4: “60m isn’t unreasonable. We need to aim to bring not only him, but Bellingham too. Bellingham is a MUST.”
@NickMCFC1894: “That’s pretty obvious, they got a record fee for Cucurella and turned down 70m for Caicedo, anyone surprised with this is ignorant to the rest of the market”
