Erling Haaland was missing from a Manchester City training session on Thursday morning ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash with Liverpool.
The Norwegian striker missed Norway’s opening Euro 2024 qualifying games after picking up a groin injury against Burnley.
The 22-year-old scored a hat-trick as City won 6-0 against the Championship leaders, setting up a semi-final at Wembley with another promotion-chasing side in Sheffield United next month.
In the Premier League, he has an incredible 28 goals and five assists. After his injury was revealed by Norway, national team doctor Ola Sand said earlier this month: “After doing tests and examinations yesterday it became clear that he will not make it for the games against Spain and Georgia. It is better that he receives medical follow-up at his club.”
Haaland’s father then confirmed the striker had been to City’s partner hospital in Barcelona for tests, admitting that he was ‘touch-and-go’ for the Liverpool game.
However, in a training session filmed on Thursday, the forward was not seen taking part in warm-up drills.

It is of course clarified that this is not a clear indication that he is completely ruled out of the Liverpool game, however concerns over his availability will only rise amongst supporters as the contest edges ever closer.
The news shared on Twitter gathered a number of replies from a wide range of Man City supporters.
@GidzOG: “Oh no”
@Supatsela88: “We are screwed”
@Cazcity142: “Gutted, hope he’s fit in time to face Bayern Munich at home”
@ImOnTheList_J: “it’s a good thing we have Alvarez”
@ltsMark: “I’m more than happy to go into the game with Alvarez if he isn’t able to play. But I wouldn’t be surprised at all if he’s doing training indoors and starts on Saturday.”
@sapphicxswift: “why people stressing he’s missing Liverpool when Bayern is literally the bigger more important game”
@Truth_Police100: “We need him for Bayern. Hope he is fit for that game”
@Emerald_mf: “No worries, we have Alvarez, imagine Pep going back to the false 9 pattern with Alvarez who’s still a proper striker”
@TeacherOfBall: “Good. Save him for Bayern Munich. The primary focus of the season must be the Champions League”
