Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Chelsea will only consider selling Ben Chilwell if they receive an offer in excess of £70m.
Pep Guardiola is a long-term admirer of the full-back and was keen to sign him before he joined the London club for £50m ($60.2m) in 2020.
Manchester City are reportedly still interested in signing Ben Chilwell from Chelsea this summer as Guardiola eyes a replacement for Joao Cancelo.
After the departure of Cancelo, Nathan Ake has been deployed in the left-back position where he has performed reasonably well, but it is not his natural position and the signing of Chilwell will be considered as an upgrade.
However, according to the report, Chelsea may sanction a sale if City come up with a lucrative transfer fee despite his injury record which has restricted him to making just 76 appearances in three years.
That’s according to Journalist Andrew Dillon of The Sun who claim Chelsea will only consider selling Ben Chilwell if they receive an offer in excess of £70m.
As per the report, Chelsea are under pressure to offload players to stay within FFP regs following their £600m outlay on new signings over the last two transfer windows.
The report shared on Twitter gathered a number of replies from a wide range of Man City supporters.
£70m? No thanks.

@Matt_YHR: And we’re supposedly asking 40 for Eric!! Good one
@BLUECIT20074833: No way! he’s too expensive while he’s injury prone.
@Gekyume_Shawn: 70 is outrageous.
@JakePritchardFC: £70 Million?!?!?! Chelsea you’re on something, £45 million sounds fair.
@l_arana19: Chelsea must be on crack
@bahadur18856744: Rather we go for another lb
@D4NNY_F0X: If they’re under pressure they don’t have any bargaining space, we can just go for another LB. £70m is about £40m too much.
